Week 16 Team Ride Updated 05/21/09
mud mountain dam

Distance: 72 miles

Elevation Gain: 1919'

Date: Sat, 23rd, at 8:00am

Start Location: Kent James St Park & Ride

The Ride The ride is close to 80 miles. We will ride from Kent to Auburn. Up to the Black Diamond bakery. From the Bakery to Enumclaw and up to Mud Mountain. From Mud Mountain back to Enumclaw, Flaming Geyser Park, Auburn and the park and ride. The course will be marked and there will be cue sheets. And yes, we will have the wonderful Saggy Bill for support. We will have a couple of Sag stops. The course will not be as hilly as last Saturday. The weather looks to be good. In the low 70’s and dry.

Preparation Since we are starting earlier, get all your stuff ready Friday night. Load up your car and sleep in your riding clothes. ( just kidding on the sleep in your riding clothes). Get prepared the day before. And yes hydrate all week. Drink that water.

Eating I think we all understand the importance of eating and drinking on long rides. You should all plan out your eating and drinking for long rides and get into a routine during the rides. For example, I take a drink of water every 10 minutes, right from the beginning. Don’t put it off, because you don’t think you are thirsty. At mile 3, you are drinking and eating for mile 75. I take a drink of water every 10 minutes, and I eat at least 150 calories (gels and bars) every hour. I also add electrolyte powder to a water bottle every couple of hours. It is important to get into an hourly routine. If anyone has any questions about eating or drinking, give me a shout.
