Hi Family and Friends....By now, I am sure that most of you have heard that I have gone off the deep end.  You can call what I am about to tell you a certifiable act if you'd like.  But, the fact is, I, [Your Name Here], will complete the Seattle to Portland, Oregon Bicycle Classic on July 9-10 (a 206 mile bike ride!!) with a group of Washington based athletes called "Team in Training"  Its a 2 day event to raise awareness for research leading to a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, and blood-related cancers.  The cause, and the concept of a team event is what initially captured my interest.

This year, I am so proud to have joined the "Team in Training" to ride my bike, 206 miles, all in the name of cancer.  It seems like everyone I know these days in touched by cancer in one way or another.  I'm sure like myself, most of you will just want to help...leave the riding to ME!

I will be riding this year in honor of Patrick Seamus Xavier Good.  Patrick is 9 years old and is currently living with leukemia thankfully in remission.  But, this little guy will be my inspiration for training every week with my team.  Because of fund raising events like the one I am doing this summer, Patrick is here with us today.  My goal and commitment is to give people like Patrick a chance to live.  Patrick's mother is also my team mentor.  Shes done "Team in Training" events a number of years in a row...now she'll show me the ropes!

Please help support me in this event by contributing generously to the leukemia and lymphoma society. 75% of all funds go directly to research, while the other 25% goes towards the event itself, keeping the athletes hydrated and fed throughout the 2 days.  Your contributions will fund the research being done to find the cure to leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood-related cancers.   I have learned through the society that we are closer than ever to finding a cure.

Training for this event will be a challenge, but my challenge is nothing in comparison to the challenges that Patrick and others have to overcome to win the fight against this awful disease.  I have to raise a minimum of 2, 400 dollars to even participate in the Seattle to Portland Bicycle classic, but I have set the bar high.  I am hoping to pull in 3, 500 dollars for the cause.  Please join me in spirit by contributing!  Whatever you can do-it all adds up!  Please go to www.active.com/donate/tntwaak/ to make an online, tax-deductible donation with your credit card or bank card.

Thank you everyone for your time, and your pledges and contributions in advance!  Please feel free to forward this email to anyone who may help!

Sincerely, [Your Name Here]
