Camelbak - Cleaning

camelbackAfter a ride, it's easy to clean the reservoir by rinsing it out with hot tap water and anti-bacterial detergent at the kitchen sink. Slosh it well inside and out, shake out the excess water, and blow through the hose to clear it. All this takes barely a minute.

Then toss the reservoir into the freezer. In there, it won't become an incubator for mold or fungus between uses. It'll be ice cold for the next ride, too.

To freshen your camelbak, add about 2 teaspoons of baking soda to a full reservoir of water and let it soak overnight. Rinse with warm water.
